Riad Lutfi MD

Dr. Riad Lutfi is a Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Indiana University School of Medicine and serves as the Pediatric Critical Care Service Line Leader. He is also the Medical Director of the Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit at Riley Children's Health.

Dr. Lutfi completed his pediatric residency at West Virginia University, followed by a fellowship in pediatric critical care at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. He joined the Indiana University faculty in 2012 and has since played a key leadership role in pediatric critical care services.

An experienced intensivist, Dr. Lutfi is actively involved in the care of critically ill children across multiple settings, including the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Cardiovascular ICU (CVICU), sedation services, and transport medicine.

His research focuses on improving pediatric emergency care through simulation-based training, particularly enhancing the stabilization and transport of critically ill children in community hospitals. He is widely recognized for his dedication to medical education and has received strong appreciation from trainees for his teaching excellence.

In addition to his academic and clinical work, Dr. Lutfi participates in international congenital heart disease mission trips, contributing to global pediatric healthcare efforts.
