Dr. Chapman was the Neuroradiology Section Chief from June 2013 through September 2019. Dr. Chapman has been a well-respected neuroradiologist in the Radiology Department since February 2008. Dr. Chapman graduated from of Medical College of Georgia School of Medicine in Augusta, Georgia in 1992. He went on to complete a medicine internship at the Methodist Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. After receiving his medical license, Dr. Chapman became an ER physician. He subsequently completed the radiology residency program at the Methodist Hospital in 1997, receiving board certification in radiology, and became a staff radiologist for Memphis Radio-logical Professional Corporation at the same hospital. There he was actively involved in teaching at the residency program.

Dr. Chapman has broad interests in Neuroradiology. He works closely with the weekly Brain Tumor and ENT Tumor boards. While he is most known for his work in head and neck radiology, he is actively involved in all aspects of the field, providing expertise in advanced brain tumor imaging (fMRI and DTI) and interventional spine procedures.

He is currently a senior member of the American Society of Neuroradiology and a member of the American Society of Head and Neck Radiology. Over the past several years he has given invited lectures and presentations to a variety of national meetings including ASSR, ASHNR, ASNR, and biennial Head and Neck meetings at the University of Utah. He is an avid educator here at the University of Alabama Birmingham and has received numerous teaching awards including the prestigious Gary Barnes Award for Resident Teaching in 2012.
