Philip A. Masters, MD is Vice President of Membership and International Programs at the American College of Physicians (ACP) and an Adjunct Professor of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He received an MD degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. He is board certified in internal medicine and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

Following completion of residency training, he served as a chief resident at the Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine where he subsequently joined the faculty and with an academic focus in medical education. He was director of the third-year internal medicine clerkship and served as the president of the Clerkship Directors in Internal Medicine (CDIM), the national association of undergraduate medical educators. He also served as Vice Chair of Medical Education for the Department of Medicine and Chair of the Division of General Internal Medicine at Penn State. He also served on the inaugural Council of the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine (AAIM), the organization of the five groups overseeing medical education in internal medicine.
