Professor Peter Cameron is the Head of Academic Programs at The National Trauma Research Institute and works as a Consultant in the Emergency and Trauma Centre at The Alfred. He is also a Professor of Emergency Medicine at Monash University. He has been President of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and was involved in the early development of the College. He has also been President of the International Federation for Emergency Medicine. In these roles, Professor Cameron has had the opportunity to be heavily involved in emergency and trauma system development in many countries.

Professor Cameron has consulted and published on trauma and emergency system development. His doctoral thesis was on the epidemiology of major trauma in Victoria. He has an extensive history of practical involvement in health services planning and analysis. He has also been the Director of four major emergency departments in different countries. He has recently returned from Qatar, where he was Chairman of Emergency Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation and assisted in the transformation of Emergency Services there.
