Paul Moayyedi PhD, MPH

Dr. Paul Moayyedi qualified in medicine at Bristol University and obtained his Ph.D. and Master's in Public Health from the University of Leeds. He was appointed Professor of Gastroenterology Health Services Research at the University of Birmingham in 2001 and then moved to McMaster University (Canada), where he was the inaugural Richard Hunt/AstraZeneca Chair of Gastroenterology in 2004.

He moved to McMaster University in 2004 and was Director of the Division of Gastroenterology at McMaster from 2006 to 2017. He holds the Audrey Campbell Chair of Ulcerative Colitis Research and is currently the Assistant Dean of Research at McMaster University. He has published over 425 peer-reviewed articles that have been cited over 56,000 times with an h-index of 114. He was Co-Editor in Chief of the American Journal of Gastroenterology from 2010 to 2015. He is currently the joint Coordinating Editor of the Gut Cochrane Review Group.
