Paul is a board certified internist and medical oncologist who cares for women with gynecologic malignancies including ovarian, uterine, and cervical cancers as well as other less common tumors. Her goal is to provide the highest quality in medical care with both standard and investigational treatments, and she participate in a variety of clinical trials aimed at improving the outcome for women with gynecologic cancer. She is an investigator in a variety of studies, but her personal research interest is to evaluate new approaches for ovarian cancer patients who are in remission after treatment.
The goal of these studies is to prolong the remission and ultimately to prevent relapse. Her colleagues and she are currently studying new drugs and agents such as vaccines that would help the immune system prevent the cancer from returning. She also evaluate immune targeted agents for ovarian cancer patients whose disease has returned after initial surgery and chemotherapy. She is an investigator in all of the clinical trials on the Gynecologic Medical Oncology Service, which provide a wide range of options for patients with gynecologic cancer. In addition to patient care, she participate in several committees for the Gynecology Oncology Group.
She also serve as the Deputy Physician-in-Chief for Clinical Research at Memorial Sloan Kettering where we are working to ensure that patients with all types of tumors have access to a wide variety of high-quality clinical trials when they are appropriate. They are focusing on new treatments developed by our own scientists as well as enriching partnerships with external sponsors. They are particularly directing our efforts at developing and conducting clinical trials with novel agents and new approaches in the most efficient manner. By completing trials and disseminating information about successful interventions as quickly as possible, we will be able to have a positive impact on the greatest number of patients — both those treated here at Memorial Sloan Kettering as well patients at other institutions throughout the world.
