Dr. Eleazer is professor and chair of the department of endodontics and pulp biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry.

He served in the United States Public Health Service in Alaska and Arizona, and taught endodontics at the Medical College of Virginia/Virginia Commonwealth University before maintaining a full-time private practice limited to endodontics in Albany, Ga., for 21 years. While in practice, he also taught dental pharmacology to dental hygiene students. In 1996, he led the residency program in endodontics and was later promoted to chair of the department of periodontics, endodontics and dental hygiene at the University of Louisville in Kentucky.

He attended Oxford College of Emory University and the University of Georgia. In 1970, he received his dental degree from the University of North Carolina, and his certificate of endodontics and Masters degree in oral biology from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1971.
