Paul Cohen is a physician-scientist focused on the links between obesity and associated diseases, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. He received his undergraduate degree from Harvard College. He then entered the Tri-Institutional MD-PhD program, where he completed his Ph.D. research with Dr. Jeff Friedman at Rockefeller University. After finishing medical school at Weill Cornell Medical College, Dr. Cohen did a residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. He then completed a Cardiology Fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and postdoctoral training with Dr. Bruce Spiegelman at Dana Farber Cancer Institute.

Dr. Cohen is now the Albert Resnick, MD Assistant Professor, Senior Attending Physician, and Head of the Laboratory of Molecular Metabolism at the Rockefeller University. He is also an Assistant Attending in the Division of Cardiology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Dr. Cohen’s lab focuses on the biology of adipose tissue, performing basic and translational studies investigating the molecular underpinnings of obesity-related illness. He also maintains a clinical practice focused on cardiovascular disease and prevention in cancer patients and survivors.
