2017 MSK Cardio-Oncology Symposium: Cardiovascular Health and Disease During and After Cancer Therapy - A Case Based Curriculum is organized by Memorial Sloan - Kettering Cancer Center and would be held during May 12 - 13, 2017 at Rockefeller Research Laboratories, New York, United States Of America.
The target audience for this medical event basically for cardiologists, internists, hematologists/oncologists and other affiliated healthcare professionals who are involved in the care of cancer patients or have a special interest in this area. This CME Conference has been approved with a maximum of 14.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.
The purpose of this conference is to provide a case-based curriculum that addresses important clinical topics relevant to the cardiovascular health of patients with cancer. Clinical experts from Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and around the country will present an up-to-date overview on the best practice strategies in the evaluation and management of heart disease in cancer patients from early diagnosis, treatment and long-term surveillance.
Objectives :
• State the commonly used cancer therapy regimens associated with cardiotoxicity including novel targeted therapies
• Recognize the cardiovascular concerns with conventional and newer targeted therapy used to treat cancer and the timeline of cardiotoxicity manifestation
• State specific examples of cardiovascular challenges during cancer therapy
• Illustrate the utility of preclinical biomarkers and imaging modalities for cardiotoxicity monitoring
• Define the strengths and weaknesses of each imaging technique in the detection and prediction of cardiotoxicity
• Describe primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular disease in cancer patients during and after cancer therapy
• Discuss the implementation of cardio-oncology practice guidelines to formulate best practice strategies
