Patrick M. Sexton PhD, FBPhS

Professor Sexton is Head of the Drug Discovery Biology Theme, a NHMRC Principal Research Fellow, and Professor of Pharmacology at the Monash Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences within Monash University. He is an internationally recognised leader in the study of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), biased agonism, on allosteric interactions between GPCRs and other proteins, and GPCR small molecule ligands.
He has particular expertise in the study of GPCR structure-function, biased agonism and the structure-function of Class B GPCRs. He is a current Thompson Reuters Highly Cited Researcher (Pharmacology and Toxicology). He has authored over 250 publications: including 186 original research and over 50 reviews, 20 book chapters; 2 patents. Prof. Sexton is also an adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Pharmacy of Fudan University in Shanghai, and Chair of the International Advisory Group of the British Pharmacological Society.
