Patrick Hanly is a Respirologist Sleep Medicine physician and clinical researcher. Over the past 30 years, his research interests have included the pathogenesis, complications, and management of central and obstructive sleep apnea, sleep in hospitalized and critically ill patients, and the bidirectional relationship between sleep apnea and kidney function. His current research is focused on a large OSA database that has been developed in collaboration with other academic sleep centers in Canada as part of the Canadian Sleep and Circadian Network (CSCN). This longitudinal cohort provides the opportunity to evaluate multiple aspects of sleep-disordered breathing including genetic determinants of health outcomes, the prediction, and pathogenesis of long-term complications, and the impact of treatment strategies.
