Pascal Jabbour, MD, is a Professor of Neurological Surgery and the Chief of the Division of Neurovascular and Endovascular Neurosurgery in the Department of Neurological Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. His practice consists of treating stroke, aneurysms, AVMs, cavernomas, carotid artery stenosis, intracerebral hemorrhage, and other neurovascular disorders. His training allows him to employ all available treatment methods for these problems, including open and minimally invasive endovascular techniques. He also performs stereotactic radiosurgery with the Gamma Knife and LINAC. In addition to his neurovascular work, Dr. Jabbour’s practice includes treating patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus and Chiari malformations.
Dr. Jabbour takes a special interest in the treatment of retinoblastoma in collaboration with Dr. Carol Shields, an ophthalmologist at Wills Eye Institute and professor at the Sidney Kimmel Medical College. Dr. Jabbour administers intra-arterial chemotherapy in the ophthalmic artery to children suffering from this rare and debilitating ocular cancer. He is an expert in intra-arterial chemotherapy, and his work in this field has made Jefferson and Wills Eye Hospital an international destination for retinoblastoma treatment. Dr Jabbour was elected Vice Chair of the Cerebrovascular Section of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
Dr. Jabbour is a very active speaker, lecturing on various neurovascular topics nationally and internationally. He has authored more than 700 papers in peer-reviewed journals, including Stroke, Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery, Interventional Neuroradiology, Ophthalmology, and Retina. He has also authored more than 60 book chapters. Dr Jabbour serves as section editor for Neurosurgery and is a reviewer for Neurosurgery, Neuroradiology, Clinical Neurology, and the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery. He is the author of a comprehensive textbook, Neurovascular Surgical Techniques, translated into multiple languages, and a 2-volume Neurosurgery Clinics of NA, and a textbook on TRA neurointerventions. He is the past president of WALN and the past vice chair of the CV section of AANS/CNS.
