Dr. Ron Melton is currently in a large group practice as an optometrist in Charlotte, North Carolina where he has staff privileges at Presbyterian Hospital. Dr Melton earned his OD degree from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. He then served as a clinical optometrist in the U.S. Army, where he attended the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology course in Ophthalmic Pathology for Ophthalmologists. Dr Melton is a consultant to the Council on Optometric Education for the American Optometric Association and a member of the American Optometric Association's Contact Lens Section. He is also member of the adjunct faculty at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, State University of New York College of Optometry, the Pacific University College of Optometry, and Indiana University School of Optometry. Dr Melton has lectured internationally on ocular disease and pharmacology. He sits on the editorial boards of Optometric Physician and Primary Care Optometry News and is a contributing editor to Clinical and Refractive Optometry. He has authored or co-authored over 100 papers on optometry and is the co-author of the popular annual "Clinical Guide to Ophthalmic Drugs" for Review of Optometry. Dr. Melton has acted as an investigator in more than 40 clinical research trials.
