Dr. Nikhil Kumta, MD, MS, is an internationally recognized advanced endoscopist, gastroenterologist, and academic leader specializing in minimally invasive endoscopic therapies for complex gastrointestinal, pancreatic, and biliary disorders. He serves as Chief of Endoscopy at Tisch Hospital and Kimmel Pavilion and is an Associate Professor of Medicine at NYU Grossman School of Medicine.

A graduate of Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University), Dr. Kumta completed his Internal Medicine residency, Gastroenterology fellowship, and Advanced Endoscopy fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. He also earned a Master of Science in Patient-Oriented Research from Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, reflecting his commitment to clinical investigation and evidence-based innovation.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kumta has been at the forefront of developing and refining advanced endoscopic techniques, helping expand treatment options for patients with gastrointestinal diseases and cancers. He has authored more than 125 peer-reviewed publications and is widely recognized for his contributions to interventional endoscopy, outcomes research, and procedural innovation. His work has helped advance minimally invasive approaches that have become standard therapies in modern gastroenterology.
