Nick Fluck originally qualified from St Bartholomew’s Hospital Medical School. He completed speciality training in Nephrology with an interest in transplant immunobiology which was the subject of his DPhil.

He move to Aberdeen in 2000 to take up a consultant post and became interested in clinical management and leadership. He has subsequently taken on a number of service, unit and sector roles within NHS Grampian before becoming the Board Medical Director in October 2014.

He continues to work clinically in the subspecialty area of multi-system vasculitis and contributes to the renal research team examining risk prediction models in acute and chronic renal failure. As Medical Director he is involved in the development of the NHS Grampian Clinical Services Strategy and is also on the Aberdeen City Integrated Joint Board.
