Nicholas Robert Mahoney MD

Nicholas R. Mahoney, M.D., is an assistant professor of ophthalmology at the Wilmer Eye Institute. He specializes in surgery of the tissue surrounding the eyes, including the eyelids, eye socket and tear drainage system. This includes removal of benign and malignant lesions of the eyelid and eye socket, repair of eyelid and eye socket trauma, reconstruction of the tear ducts and both functionally reconstructive and cosmetic surgery on the eyelids and face.

Dr Mahoney received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and completed his ophthalmology residency at the Scheie Eye Institute, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. He then completed additional specialty training as an American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS) fellow at the Wilmer Eye Institute and Johns Hopkins Hospital. Dr. Mahoney joined the Wilmer faculty in 2012
