Nicholas S. Hopkinson MA, PhD, FRCP

Dr Nicholas Hopkinson is a Clinical Senior Lecturer at the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College, London. He is clinical lead for COPD at the Royal Brompton Hospital, London. His research interests include pulmonary rehabilitation and physical activity in COPD and his international collaborations include the EU PROactive project (for which he is a work package lead) and work in Chile on the use of pedometers to promote physical activity.

He also has an interest in quality improvement and led development of the COPD discharge care bundle. He chairs the British Thoracic Society COPD Specialist Advisory Group, is a medical advisor to the British Lung Foundation, a member of the London Respiratory Clinical Leadership Group and is active in tobacco control advocacy, including being a member of the advisory group of The Smoke Free Action Coalition.
