Nathan D. Peffley, M.D., is a board-certified anesthesiologist and critical care specialist at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He serves as an Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science, where he provides advanced perioperative and intensive care for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions. Dr. Peffley earned a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Miami University before receiving his Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) from The University of Toledo College of Medicine. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology and a fellowship in Anesthesiology Critical Care at the University of Michigan Health System. He is board certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology in both Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine.

He serves on Mayo Clinic's Clinical Competency Committee and Morbidity and Mortality Review Committee and has participated in Grand Rounds planning. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the International Anesthesia Research Society, and the Society of Anesthesia and Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Peffley has authored peer-reviewed publications on extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, perioperative coagulation management, cardiothoracic anesthesiology, mechanical circulatory support, and intraoperative ventilatory strategies. His research focuses on advancing the care of critically ill surgical patients through innovations in critical care and perioperative medicine.
