Nasreen Mahomed is an Associate Professor in Radiology at the University of Witwatersrand, Faculty of Health Sciences. She is qualified with an MBBCh (University of Witwatersrand), FC Radiology (College of Medicine, South Africa), a Masters in Paediatric Radiology (University of Witwatersrand) and PhD in Paediatric Radiology (University of Witwatersrand). Currently, she is Head of the Department of Radiology at Rahima Moosa Mother and Child Hospital current Chair of the South African Society of Pediatric Imaging (SASPI) and is working on updating Paediatric Imaging protocols nationally.
Mahomed was awarded the Khanyisa Award 2nd place from Gauteng Health in 2016, presented to her by the MEC of Gauteng Health. Prof N Mahomed is an invited speaker at the BRICS and African Development at the Nelson Mandela University, South Africa in August 2018 where she will be presenting on BRICS partnerships for telemedicine options in Africa. She is the current Director of Research in Radiology, at the University of Witwatersrand and has 36 DHOET-accredited journal publications. Pro. Mahomed is currently doing her post-doctoral research on Computer-Aided Diagnosis for WHO chest-defined pneumonia phase 2 and phase 3. Prof N Mahomed is a current reviewer for the Pediatric Radiology, South African Journal of Radiology (SAJR), and South African Journal of Child Health (SAJCh).
