Mitchell L. Shiffman MD, FACG

Mitchell L. Shiffman, MD, is the Director of the Liver Institute of Virginia at Bon Secours Mercy Health with offices in Richmond and Newport News, Virginia. He is also a Professor of Medicine at the Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia. From 1990-2009, Dr Shiffman was the Chief of Hepatology and Medical Director of the Liver Transplant Program at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia.

Dr. Shiffman has published over 300 articles in peer-reviewed medical journals, invited reviews, and/or book chapters, has edited 3 textbooks on liver disease, and was recently the guest editor for Clinics in Liver Disease 2021, volume 4, entitled Challenging Issues in the Management of Chronic Hepatitis B Virus. He was a member of the American College of Gastroenterology Board of Trustees from 2004 to 2009.
