Micol Rothman MD

Dr. Micol S. Rothman is a board-certified endocrinologist and Professor of Medicine at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, with secondary appointments in Radiology and Psychiatry. She serves as the Clinical Director of the Metabolic Bone Program and Medical Director of the UCHealth Integrated Transgender Program, where she leads clinical care and program development at the intersection of bone health and gender-affirming care.

Dr. Rothman earned her MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She went on to complete her fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of Colorado. She is board-certified in both Internal Medicine and Endocrinology.

Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of endocrine disorders, with particular expertise in metabolic bone disease, reproductive endocrine disorders, osteoporosis, and transgender health for adults. Dr. Rothman is recognized for her compassionate, evidence-based care and leadership in multidisciplinary approaches to complex hormone-related conditions.

Dr. Rothman’s research focuses on identifying and addressing care gaps in osteoporosis, understanding the effects of sex steroids (estrogen and testosterone) on bone health, and improving health outcomes for gender diverse patients. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in these areas and is an active member of professional societies, including the Endocrine Society, ASBMR, ISCD, and WPATH/USPATH.
