Michele Ann Rubin APN, MSN, CNS, CGRN

Michele Rubin is an Advanced Practice Nurse certified as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in IBD and certified as a Gastroenterology Nurse. She has 40 years of experience in Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) at the University of Chicago Medicine (UCM) ranging from positions in nursing leadership, IBD research, to IBD Clinical Nurse Specialist. She is also the Associate Director of the IBD Center and Director of Advanced Practice Nursing at the University of Chicago Medicine (UCM). Michele works closely with the UCM multidisciplinary IBD patient management team with the IBD surgeons and gastroenterologists in managing the care of IBD patients and families.

She has a passion for working with IBD patients and in particular pre- and post-operative follow up care, as well as she manages a J-Pouch clinic. She helps to ensure patients are educated and supported during their surgical experience and so they are not lost to follow up care as needed. She assists in the initial adjustment phase of patients living with a J-Pouch as well as lifelong maintenance surveillance to optimize successful outcomes. Michele is a known leader and lecturer on IBD across the country for various organizations and Advanced Provider educational institutions. She has authored and co-authored numerous articles and has participated in research focusing on IBD.
