Michael qualified in medicine in 1977 before proceeding to undergo ENT training in London. Following this he was appointed clinical lecturer at the Radcliffe Infirmary, Oxford. In 1987 he moved to Manchester to work as a consultant at the Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital and Hope Hospital Salford. Michael served as the President of the British Society of Paediatric Otorhinolaryngology (BAPO) until 2012. He is a well renowned teacher and is a faculty member on the British Paediatric Otolaryngology Course (BPOC). His clinical research interests include the management of congenital ear disease, Bone Anchored Hearing Aids (BAHA) and childhood airway obstruction. Michael has over 50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and is regularly invited to lecture at national and international medical conferences on various aspects of paediatric ENT.
