Biography :

Professor Katz began his chemistry career as a student at Capilano College (now University) in North Vancouver, before transferring to Simon Fraser University where he received his B.Sc. in 2004. During his time as an undergraduate Mike worked as a researcher in the lab of Professor Danny Leznoff. Mike continued his studies under the supervision of Professor Leznoff as a graduate student studying the optical properties of diamagnetic coordination polymers.

In 2009, Mike became Dr. Katz As a result of his research, Mike was awarded the CIC’s Inorganic Division Award for Graduate Research and the CCUCC Chemistry Doctoral Award. After graduating, he was awarded an NSERC post-doctoral fellowship which he chose to hold in the lab of Professor Joseph Hupp at Northwestern University in Evanston Illinois (Go Hawks!).
