Dr. Michael Irwin Ebright joined Stamford Hospital and Columbia University Medical Center after serving on the faculty at Boston University School of Medicine for six years. There, he was Director of the Center for Thoracic Oncology and Co-Director of the Lung CyberKnife Program.

He has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and has authored book chapters on a variety of topics related to thoracic surgery. In addition, he has been selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, as identified in Boston, New York, and Connecticut magazines.

Dr. Michael Ebright is a board-certified thoracic surgeon. His expertise includes lung and esophageal cancers, as well as other diseases of the chest.

Dr. Ebright is an experienced surgeon proficient in minimally invasive techniques. He is a leader of a multidisciplinary team of physicians to devise the most effective treatment plans, personalized to each patient. He participates in clinical research and has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, as well as book chapters, on a variety of topics related to general thoracic surgery. He has been consistently selected as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor, as identified in New York, Connecticut, and Boston Magazines.

Dr. Ebright is on staff at both Stamford Health and New York-Presbyterian/Columbia. Prior to that, he was faculty at the Boston University School of Medicine.

Although foremost a clinical surgeon, Dr. Ebright is also deeply involved in hospital administration, specifically at Stamford Health. This 305-bed independent non-profit acute-care hospital has numerous outpatient facilities throughout Fairfield County. Within this system, Dr. Ebright serves as Vice-Chair of the Department of Surgery and as Division Director of Thoracic Surgery.

He has developed numerous programs such as the Perioperative Optimization Program, the Lung Cancer Screening Program, and the Esophageal Disease Center. He chairs the Surgical Value Analysis Team, where his work consolidating device vendors has resulted in significant savings for the system.

He is the Surgical Director of the Bennett Cancer Center and served as the Interim Chair for the Department of Surgery in 2016. At Boston Medical Center, he was the physician lead for the transition of Perioperative Services to the EPIC electronic medical record system. Currently, Dr. Ebright serves on the Board of Directors for the Stamford Health system, as well as the subsidiary board of the Stamford Health Medical Group.

As Connecticut’s epicenter during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Ebright led the hospital’s effort to pivot all perioperative services toward urgent and emergent care, followed by the resumption of normal operations.
Dedicated to remaining at the forefront of surgical technology, Dr. Ebright serves as a consultant to a major surgical device company developing novel robotic surgical platforms and image-guided surgery.
