Michael E. Bowdish, MD, is an assistant professor of surgery and the director of mechanical circulatory support in the Department of Surgery at Keck Hospital of USC and the USC CardioVascular Thoracic Institute. Dr. Bowdish is an adult cardiac surgeon who brings specialized state-of-the-art training from the world-renowned New York-Presbyterian Columbia University Medical Center in surgical therapy for heart failure, mechanical circulatory support and heart transplantation to USC. Dr. Bowdish has been involved in several clinical trials evaluating new mechanical circulatory support devices for the treatment of end-stage heart failure - trials that have expanded the indications for the use of these devices.

Dr. Bowdish is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. He is a member of numerous associations, is a national and international speaker, and has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Bowdish's other clinical interests include aortic surgery, valve-sparing root replacements, and surgical education.
