Dr. Michael S. Czekajlo, MD, PhD, is a highly experienced critical care physician and academic leader with a distinguished career spanning clinical practice, medical education, and international health innovation. He serves as a critical care specialist affiliated with institutions, including Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center, and has held faculty roles such as Clinical Professor in Anesthesiology and Critical Care at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health in Richmond, Virginia, where he championed interdisciplinary training and research for over a decade.

Dr. Czekajlo completed his medical training with an MD and PhD from Poznan University of Medical Sciences and holds board certification in critical care medicine, following residency in internal medicine and fellowship training in critical care at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Beyond clinical work, he is known for his pioneering contributions to healthcare simulation and emergency medical education, including establishing the first multidisciplinary medical simulation center in Poznan, Poland, as a Fulbright Scholar, and collaborating on national programs to expand CPR training and emergency care standards. Through leadership roles such as Medical Director of the Center for Simulation and Healthcare Innovation and co-founding initiatives that build academic-industry partnerships, Dr. Czekajlo continues to advance critical care practice, medical education, and international healthcare collaboration.
