Michael C. Sachtleben is president of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and a senior vice president for MedStar Health. In this role, he is responsible for the overall strategic and operational direction for the hospital and the clinical faculty group practice. Founded in 1898 under the Jesuit principle of cura personalis—caring for the whole person—MedStar Georgetown University Hospital is an acute care, teaching and research hospital committed to offering a variety of innovative diagnostic and treatment options within a trusting and compassionate environment.

Previously, Sachtleben served as the hospital’s chief operating officer and also as executive director of the MedStar Georgetown Physicians Group. Prior to joining MedStar Georgetown leadership in 2002, Sachtleben led the Washington Operations for MedStar Physician Partners, where he oversaw a network of community-based physicians.

Sachtleben earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland at College Park and a master of healthcare administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Gillings School of Global Public Health. He also holds a certificate in leadership from Georgetown University Center for Professional Development and is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Sachtleben also serves as a board member for the National Capital Area Chapter of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
