Melissa grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and has always enjoyed outdoor activities including hiking, running, tennis, mountain biking, fishing, rock climbing, and skiing. She attended Colorado State University where she worked as an undergraduate researcher in Brian McNaughton's lab. While there, Melissa worked on a variety of chemical biology projects including developing protein-small molecule immunotherapeutic drug conjugates and enhancing the potency and selectivity of a cancer cell-specific protein transduction domain. She also had the opportunity to conduct summer research at the EPFL in Switzerland with Elena Dubikovskaya where she developed in vivoimaging reagents. Melissa is very excited to be a part of this program and looks forward to working with an interdisciplinary team and applying her own chemical background to address challenges in biology and medicine.
