Dr. Musgrave completed a BSc in Biology at University of Kings College followed by a BaH in Psychology at Queen's University prior to her graduate school training. She completed an MSc and subsequently a PhD in Pharmacology and Toxicology (Neuroscience) at Queen's University. She did her medical training and residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Toronto. She was awarded the Dr. A Ross Tilley Scholarship for Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery by the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons in 2003.

Dr. Musgrave competed fellowship training in breast reconstruction and advanced reconstructive microsurgery in Toronto, Winnipeg and the Radcliffe Infirmary in Oxford, England where she worked as a locum plastic surgeon before returning to Toronto in 2005.
