Mauricio Kfuri MD, PhD

Mauricio Kfuri obtained his medical degree in 1989. His academic career included a PhD in Biomechanics at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, and a post-doctorate fellowship in Germany, which was sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation. Since 1995, he has been involved with medical education. As an active member of the AO Foundation, he has been a faculty member, a member of the AOTrauma Research Commission, a member of the AOTrauma International Board, and Chairperson of AOTrauma Latin America.

In Brazil, he has been an officer of the Brazilian Orthopaedic Society, of the Brazilian Knee Society, and President of the Brazilian Orthopaedic Trauma Society. In 2008, he chaired the first Knee Trauma Meeting, which later became the International Symposium on Knee Trauma, an event attended by more than 700 physicians at its 2014 edition. His areas of particular interest are tibial plateau fractures and osteotomies around the knee.
