Matthew West was a proud Wiradjuri man, I was appointed Chairperson of the Darkinjung Local Aboriginal Land Council (Darkinjung) in 2018, following three years on the Board. With 3,700 hectares, Darkinjung is the largest non-Government landholder on the Central Coast.
From late 2018, I have been a key figure in working with the NSW Government on the creation and ongoing implementation of the Darkinjung Delivery Framework (the Framework) - a landmark set of planning measures to help Darkinjung achieve greater economic self-determination from its land.
I am the son of former NSW Aboriginal Land Council Chairperson Roy Ah-See and my family is originally from the mission reserve Nanima in Wellington, which is part of the Wiradjuri nation. I moved to the Central Coast with my family while in primary school.
