Matt Oliva, MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist and fellowship-trained corneal surgeon at the Medical Eye Center in Medford, Oregon. Dr. Oliva specializes in surgical and medical treatments of the eye including corneal transplants, cataract surgery, laser vision correction, pterygium surgery, ocular surface tumors, corneal dystrophies, and infection-related eye disease. The team at the Medical Eye Center serves refractive surgery patients from a large geographic region of Southern Oregon and Northern California where Dr. Oliva also provides services in general ophthalmology, diabetic exams, uveitis, and routine eye care.
Dr. Oliva is a board member of the Himalayan Cataract Project(www.cureblindness.org), a non-profit foundation aimed at eliminating blindness in the developing world including bringing refractive surgery services to Nepal and Ethiopia. In this capacity, he travels to Asia and Africa multiple times per year to perform and teach ophthalmic surgery. Additionally, Dr. Oliva is dedicated to the development of international eye banks that expand access to sight-restoring corneal transplants and serves as the Medical Director of the country’s largest eye bank SightLife(www.sightlife.org), based in Seattle.
