Matthew J. Price, MD, is a nationally recognized interventional cardiologist specializing in structural heart procedures and the latest non-invasive catheter-based treatments for heart disease. He is well known in Southern California among general cardiologists who refer patients with several types of coronary artery disease.

Dr. Price specializes in both coronary and percutaneous approaches to structural and congenital heart disease that include atrial septal defect (ASD), ventricular septal defect (VSD) and patent foramen ovale (PFO). Dr. Price implants the Watchman left-atrial appendage device as a stroke prevention measure for patients with atrial fibrillation (AFib). He also performs catheter-based mitral valve repair using MitraClip.

In addition to his medical practice, Dr. Price is the editor-in-chief of Interventional Cardiology Clinics and served as the editor of a major textbook on coronary stent procedures. He also serves on the editorial board for the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and as a reviewer for several other leading U.S. cardiology journals. He is the director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory in the Division of Cardiovascular Diseases at Scripps Clinic, and an assistant professor at the Scripps Translational Science Institute.
