Martha Mappus Munden MD

Dr. Martha Munden graduated from Clemson University, Clemson, SC, and received her M.D. degree from MUSC College of Medicine. She remained at MUSC to complete her radiology residency and a fellowship in pediatric radiology. Dr. Munden is certified by the American Board of Radiology in both pediatric radiology and diagnostic radiology. Prior to joining the MUSC faculty, Dr. Munden held faculty appointments at Tufts University in Boston, and at Texas Children’s Hospital with a 20-year tenure as section head of ultrasound. She was most recently at Wake Forest School of Medicine, Winston-Salem, NC where she held the position of Medical Director of Pediatric Radiology. She is a Fellow of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

Dr. Munden’s research interests include investigations on shear wave elastography and its applications in pediatric imaging and all aspects of ultrasound in pediatric imaging. She has numerous peer-reviewed publications, scientific abstracts, and multiple book chapters. She has been actively involved in the Society of Pediatric Radiology and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine and is invited frequently to lecture at their national meetings.
