Dr Grassi graduated from the University of Bari with honours, discussing the experimental thesis on surgical techniques of vitrectomy, and specialized in ophthalmology with honours always at the same university, discussing the thesis on a particular complication enucleation interventions, ie prosthetic incontinence. Dr Grassi is also passionate about refractive surgery ( from surgical correction of myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism, to cross-linking for keratoconus, to corneal transplants both full-thickness and lamellar ); for this reason he also presented a report on the 10th National SOU (University Ophthalmologists) Course, entitled " Topographically guided aberrometric corneal ablation techniques". Moreover, during the specialization, he performed numerous cataract operations, intravitreal injections, cross-linking and PRK, interventions for calazi and pterygium ; he also participated in over 200 vitreoretinal surgery operations (from vitrectomy to the ex external technique of cerclage), performed both by the Bari Polyclinic team and by Italian and foreign guests on live Surgery Courses. Dr Grassi has worked both in the field of medical supervision (an experience that has taught her to always pay global attention to the sick and not only confined to the eyes) and in outpatient specialist care in the ASL. He is currently in service at the Unit of the Policlinico of Bari, as project Tutor "RETINA PLUS: a path dedicated to the patient with Diabetic Macular Edema"; as part of this initiative, Dr Grassi performs Angio-OCT for early diagnosis in patients with Diabetic Retinopathy.
