Maria K. Hordinsky, M.D. is Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus. Dr Hordinsky is recognized for her expertise and research in hair diseases and the peripheral nervous system as it relates to hair follicle biology. Dr Hordinsky is the current president of the Association of Professors of Dermatology, Chair of the Clinical Research Advisory Council of the National Alopecia Areata Foundation and is Secretary/Treasurer of the North American Hair Research Society.

Dr Hordinsky is also a Representative from the Association of Professors of Dermatology to the Council of Faculty Academic Societies (CFAS) of the American Association of Medical Colleges. She is also Section Editor on Hair Diseases for UpToDate an evidence-based clinical decision support system. Dr Hordinsky is also actively involved in several other dermatology organizations including the American Academy of Dermatology and Society for Investigative Dermatology. Dr Hordinsky was a recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award and has over 80 publications. She regularly lectures and teaches on hair diseases and divides her time between seeing patients with residents and medical students in her private practice associated with University of Minnesota Physicians, doing clinical research, teaching, and administration.
