Dr. Marek Trneny, Professor of medical oncology, is currently chairman of the 1st Dept of Medicine, Director of Stem Cell Transplantation Program and Lymphoma Program at General Hospital, Charles University Prague. He completed his undergraduate studies at 1st School of Medicine, Charles University cum Laude. He completed his residency and fellowship in internal medicine (board certificated 1st and 2nd grade) as the fellowship in hematology (board certificated) and medical oncology (board certificated). He established a stem cell transplantation program at Ist Dept Medicine and more than sixteen hundred patients have been treated in this program until now.

Marek Trneny obtained C.Sc. (Ph.D. equivalent) degree in 2001 based on the thesis: Factors influencing engraftment after high dose therapy and stem cell transplantation. He was appointed as Charles University professor of medical oncology in 2009. His interest is focused on lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia biology and therapy, targeted therapy, and stem cell transplantation programs. He is the founding member of the Czech Lymphoma Study Group and has been elected as a chair of CLSG since 2004. He is an executive board member of the Czech Hematology Society since 1998. He is a principal investigator and co-investigator of several national and international trials.

Marek Trneny is a co-investigator of the European Mantle Cell Lymphoma Network. He participates in EORTC and EBMT trials as a member of their lymphoma working parties, he is a member of the ESMO Faculty for hematological malignancies. He is an EHA, and ASH member, he serves as a reviewer for many peers reviewed journals such as JCO, Blood, and others.
