Dr. Marcia Schofield qualified in medicine from the University of Cambridge, with an intercalated degree in Virology and Immunology. She started practice in anesthetics and intensive care medicine but rapidly developed an interest in clinical pain medicine and palliative care. In 2003, she joined Dr. Rajesh Munglani in pain medicine practice with the aim of bringing evidence and structure to the discipline of pain medicine.

Dr. Schofield has extensive experience in pain trial design and conduct. She has a long association with medicinal cannabinoids, having worked for the last 12 years on trials of cannabis-based medicines in phases 2,3 and 4 trials across a wide variety of conditions, including neuropathic pain, cancer pain, and multiple sclerosis.

She has a large NHS clinical practice and has lectured extensively across the UK and Europe, and internationally for the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). She is an editor of the Journal of Observational Pain Medicine, an associate editor of the Pain Newsletter, a founder member of the London Pain Forum and has held the post of senior lecturer in Pain Medicine at the University of Cardiff. She is also a consultant for CannBioRx Life Sciences in human trial design.
