Marcelo Silveira Guimaraes MD, MBA, FSIR

Dr. Guimaraes has been a Vascular Interventional Radiologist (VIR) for 15 years. He has served MUSC for the last 11 years, and as a Medical Director of the Divison of VIR for the last 4 years, where he leads an extremely effective group of 38 staff members. Due to his passion for the healthcare business, he will complete an executive MBA in Dec 2019.

Dr. Guimaraes is focused on finding ways to deliver cost-effective and high-quality healthcare, passionate to drive healthcare business innovations in times of economic pressure, and developing new techniques and devices to improve patient care. He enjoys being the interface between different functional units and working towards and executing the best action plan.

As a medical director, he has served with passion, drive, energy, innovative vision, respect, and conscious cohesive team building. With a collaborative mindset and under his leadership, his team has established a world-class, cost-effective, lean VIR Division, and increases in employee satisfaction/retention, business growth, overall profitability, and patient satisfaction.
