Luke O'neill PhD

Professor Luke O'Neill was appointed to the Chair of Biochemistry at Trinity College Dublin in 2008, where he leads the Inflammation Research Group. He is also the Academic Director of the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute. Luke O’Neill investigates inflammation –a highly complex process that is provoked in the body during infection by bacteria and viruses but also in response to trauma and injury. Inflammation restores us to health but for largely unknown reasons it can go rogue and give rise to a whole range of inflammatory diseases that remain difficult to treat.
