Lorenzo Azzalini MD, PhD, MSc

Dr. Azzalini, an Associate Professor of Medicine at the VCU School of Medicine and Pauley Heart Center’s Director of Complex Coronary Interventions. Dr. Azzalini’s research focuses on chronic total occlusions, acute kidney injury after percutaneous coronary intervention, mechanical circulatory support, and vascular access. He has published more than 140 peer-reviewed manuscripts.

He is a member of the editorial board of Eurointervention, Canadian Journal of Cardiology, and Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine. He is a guest reviewer for several other journals, including Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC); Circulation; JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions; JACC: Cardiovascular Imaging; Circulation: Cardiovascular Interventions; American Journal of Cardiology; and Catheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions. He is an associate member of the EuroCTO Club and a member of the Chronic Total Occlusion Academic Research Consortium (CTO-ARC).
