Lizette is a clinical psychologist and systemic psychotherapist working as a lecturer on the University of Hertfordshire Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme. Lizette was born in South Africa where she trained first as an occupational therapist and later as a clinical psychologist. Once in the UK Lizette completed her training in family and systemic psychotherapy at the Institute of Family Therapy, London, and then went on to complete her Doctorate in Systemic Psychotherapy at the Tavistock. Valuing a contextual and relational focus in her clinical work, Lizette draws mostly on systemic, narrative and community approaches. Her research and teaching focuses on social justice, inclusion and equality. Lizette loves long walks, preferably in the woods, long, slow meals with friends and books. Lizette lives with her partner and two teenage boys, her most important teachers about being family.
