Lizette Louw MBChB, FCNP, MMed

Dr. Lizette Louw qualified as a Nuclear Physician in 2011 and at present works as a Senior Specialist at Chris Hani Baragwanath and Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospitals. Although there is no dedicated pediatric Nuclear Medicine unit at either of these hospitals, she is passionate about pediatric imaging. She has been president of the South African Association of Nuclear Physicians (ANP) since October 2014 and an executive member of the South African Society of Nuclear Medicine (SASNM) since 2012.

During 2017-2018 she made history by being the first person to simultaneously chair both the ANP and SASNM. Dr. Louw has presented at numerous international conferences, including the European Society of Paediatric Nuclear Medicine. She has won the best abstract awards at 4 different international conferences. As a senior specialist in an academic unit, Dr. Louw is involved in Nuclear Medicine training as well as examination. In addition to her own research projects, she also mentors and supervises registrars’ MMed projects.
