Dr. Liping Liu, MD, PhD, is Ditector of NCU, Professor of Neurology and Stroke center at Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University. Her clinical interest on the management of acute stroke and neuro-critical care. Her research efforts have focused on several fields like “thrombolysis for acute stroke”, “Chinese symptomatic atherosclerotic intracerebral stenosis”. “observation of depression after stroke”. She completed her medical and research training in Neurology at Capital Medical University and Stanford University, with special emphasis on acute stroke management, neuro-critical care and epidemiology, and medical decision-making.

Dr. Liu has extensive clinical research experience using large national registry data including China National Stroke Registry (CNSR) and CICAS data bank ( of the intracranial artery stenosis). she serves as an investigator or co-investigator of several projects from China Nature Science Foundation, National Science & Technology key project and Beijing Science & Technology Institute, and has previously collaborated with the team from University of California, San Francisco, that leading the clinical research effort international. As a co-PI, she works directly with Dr. Lawrence Wong from Hong kong Chinese University to supervise data platform development and data harmonization, study design, data analysis and interpretation, and generation of manuscripts based on CNSR, CHANCE, and parallel and advanced analytic techniques in stroke-related translational or clinical research.

She also serves as assistant editor of STROKE journal, and editor of several international journals. member of the organizing community of the Chinese Stroke Association (CSA).
