Linda E. Keyes MD, FACEP, FAWM

Dr. Linda E Keyes graduated from Yale Medical School, completed an emergency medicine residency at Highland Hospital in Oakland, CA, and a research fellowship with the Cardiovascular Pulmonary Laboratory and Women’s Health Research Center at the University of Colorado. She is president-elect of the Wilderness Medical Society, a member of the High Altitude Medicine and Biology editorial review board, and the Hypoxia Symposia Advisory Board. She was a member of the Wilderness and Environmental Medicine Editorial Board for 11 years and Associate Editor for 6 years.

Dr. Keyes is an expert on pregnancy at high altitudes and acute mountain sickness. She has led and participated in wilderness medicine projects on 5 continents and published more than 20 peer-reviewed articles on high-altitude medicine. Her current research focus is hypertension at high altitudes.

Dr. Keyes has worked as a volunteer physician at the Himalaya Rescue Association clinic in Pheriche, Nepal. She is an instructor for the Nepal DIMM. She served as a co-physician advisor for the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group in Boulder, CO, and was a rescue member while a medical student. She has been a doctor and climber on Himalayan and South American climbing expeditions. She has led mobile medical relief teams to Nepal after the 2015 earthquake for NYC Medics in partnership with Himalayan Healthcare and to Dominica after Hurricane Maria in 2017. When she is not backcountry skiing or climbing with her family, she practices clinical emergency medicine in a community hospital.
