Latha C. Alaparthi MD, FACG, AGAF

Latha Alaparthi, MD, a board-certified gastroenterologist, has a passion for advocating for her patients and colleagues. Dr. Alaparthi’s goal is to provide care and compassion to every patient, utilizing the latest innovations. In addition to general gastroenterology, she has a special interest in functional bowel diseases, pelvic floor issues in women, esophageal disorders, and large polyp resection.

Born and raised in India, Dr. Alaparthi earned her medical degree from Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugarajendra (JJM) Medical College in Karnataka, India. After moving to the United States, she completed her internal medicine residency at Yale School of Medicine’s (YSM) affiliated program through Norwalk Hospital and her gastroenterology/hepatology training through Yale University. After 22 years in private practice and teaching appointments at the Yale School of Medicine and Frank Netter School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University, Dr. Alaparthi joined Yale New Haven Health as the associate chief medical officer for Bridgeport Hospital, Milford Campus. Her most recent activities include, from March 2023 to June 2024, being president of the Digestive Health Physicians Association (DHPA), a national organization representing private practice gastroenterologists. In 2024, Dr. Alaparthi was the keynote speaker at the American Gastroenterological Association’s (AGA) Tech Summit, discussing precision health and women’s health.

Dr. Alaparthi is board-certified in gastroenterology and hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). She is fluent in Kannada, Telugu and English and speaks fluent Hindi. In her free time, Dr. Alaparthi likes to travel, garden, and spend time with family. She is a volunteer and board member at Grace Girls Home, an orphanage offering “at-risk” girls a safe and nurturing environment in Sri Lanka.
