Kirk H. Packo MD, FACS

Dr. Packo is Professor and Chairman and Director of the Retina Section of the Department of Ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He is also a senior partner in Illinois Retina Associates, a thirteen-physician private retina practice. He completed undergraduate studies at Notre Dame University in Pre-Medical Studies and Speech & Drama. At Notre Dame, he credited over twenty major productions as an actor, stage producer or director, and two seasons of summer stock. In 1973, he studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in New York City. Choosing medicine over the footlights, he graduated St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1979. His ophthalmology residency followed at the University of Illinois Eye & Ear Infirmary, with his retinal fellowship at Emory University subsequently in 1984. He joined Illinois Retina Associates and Rush University in 1985.
