Kevin H. Souza is the Associate Dean for Medical Education at the University of California, San Francisco. In addition, he currently serves as Chair of IT Governance for UC San Francisco and Chair of Continuum Integration for the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Educational Affairs. In his role as Associate Dean, he has administrative responsibility for the medical education programs and programmatic oversight of educational technology and simulation activities in the school. His professional interests include cultivating educational and change leadership, systems improvement, organizational development, strategic visioning, use of innovative and effective technologies in teaching and learning, including simulation and telemedicine; and the advancement of health worldwide through competency-based health professions education using appropriate technologies and educational methods.
At UCSF he is currently involved in the development of the new UCSF School of Medicine Bridges curriculum, which trains physicians who are well prepared to improve the health care system, and therefore the health of our communities. Nationally, he has served as chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Western Group on Educational Affairs (WGEA) and as chair of the AAMC Group on Information Resources (GIR) Communications Subcommittee. He has also served on the AAMC GEA and GIR steering committees.
