Kerry Patterson MSN, RN, CCRN-K

Kerry Patterson, MSN, RN, CCRN-K, is the Nurse Clinician and Educator for the Coronary Intensive Care Unit at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Health System in Richmond, Virginia. With over 27 years of nursing experience—24 of those in the Pauley Heart Center—Kerry brings extensive expertise in caring for critically ill cardiac patients. She earned her bachelor’s degree in child development with a concentration in health-related sciences from East Carolina University, followed by a nursing diploma and a Master of Science in Nursing Education.

In her current role, Kerry leads the unit’s education and orientation programs and serves as co-chair of VCU Health’s Critical Care Committee. She is certified in critical care and is passionate about advancing best practices, including early mobility and verticalization therapy for ICU patients. Kerry has been instrumental in implementing innovative strategies to improve patient outcomes and is actively involved in research initiatives, including ambulation for patients with femoral access devices. She is a dedicated member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) and aspires to publish her work in this area.
